HOMEFRONT: SINNERS RECONCILED (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas set in the small town of River Run, Ohio, that concerns some of the issues that Americans faced in the post-World War II era. The series focuses on three different families: the Catholic, working-class Metcalfs; the rich, industry-owning Sloans; and the Davises, an African-American family that works for the Sloans. In this episode, River Run residents prepare for the first Christmas Eve since the soldiers' return from the war. Charlie (O'Reilly) is heroic in his efforts to assist Gina (Santini) as she gives birth to her baby; after helping with the birth, he is forced to rush the baby to Saint Anne's Hospital, where he meets one of his old teachers, Sister Theophane (Ayan). Mike Sloan, Sr., continues to try to get on Gina's good side and rushes to the hospital to help, while Ruth (Kennedy) stays home, haunted by memories of past Christmases with her little son, Mike, who has died. Meanwhile, Al (Slattery) argues with Anne (Phillips) about her dogmatic attitude toward his divorce while the Metcalf children struggle to get the Christmas cards out on time; Jeff (Chandler), after several phone conversations with Ginger (Lauren), becomes increasingly worried about her activities in Hollywood; and Grandmother Davis (Hagins) irritates and unnerves Gloria (Winston) as the Davis family prepares for Christmas.
