PICTURES ON THE EDGE (TV)

Summary

This program, winner of a 1992 International Emmy Award, presents two modern dances and showcases the work of choreographers Lar Lubovitch and Moses Pendleton. Lubovitch's sensually charged piece, "Fandango," is choreographed to Maurice Ravel's "Bolero" and features dancers Mia Babalis and Sylvain LaFortune. Charles Dutoit conducts the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in a performance of "Pictures at an Exhibition," choreographed by Pendleton and performed by the dancers of MOMIX. Modest Mussorgsky's symphonic impressions are visually expressed in a series of dream-like dances, beginning in a surrealistic museum gallery that flows into a landscape of fantasy and illusion.
