MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, THE: PUT ON A HAPPY FACE (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about Mary Richards, a single career woman working in a television newsroom. In this episode, Mary endures a terrible run of bad luck. She begins her day in the newsroom by spilling coffee on her shirt. Then she discovers that man she thought was going to accompany her to an important awards banquet has made other plans and Ted offers to set her up on a blind date. Later, Mr. Grant informs Mary that she accidentally threw out the obituary files and must rewrite every single one of them. Then Mary slips on the newly waxed floor outside the newsroom and sprains her ankle, which she soaks in cold water, causing her to catch a cold. As the awards dinner drawers nearer, Mary decides to take Ted up on his offer and is dismayed to learn that the blind date he has been bragging about is none other than Ted himself. To top it all off, Mary's formal dress for the banquet is delivered from the cleaners with an immense stain on it and her hair dryer breaks. Things only get worse for Mary as she tries to make it through a very important evening looking sick, tired, and shabby. Commercials deleted.
