M*A*S*H {MASH}: IRON GUTS KELLEY (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedy programs about the men and women of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M*A*S*H) stationed behind the lines during the Korean War. In this episode, the M*A*S*H unit receives a visit from Gen. "Iron Guts" Kelly, who is reputed to be one of the greatest fighting generals in U.S. history. Gen. Kelly and his assistant, Col. Wortman, are pleased with the unit's medical care, although Hawkeye and Trapper John are unimpressed with the officers' war bravado. Gen. Kelly, however, is most impressed with the head nurse, Maj. Margaret Houlihan, and escorts the major to her living quarters. But Margaret frantically wakes up Hawkeye and Trapper John in the middle of the night when the general "dies in action." Col. Wortman is determined to give the impression that Gen. Kelly died as a war hero rather than an adulterer, while Hawkeye and Trapper John are just as determined not to falsify the death certificate, despite Wortman's orders. Commercials deleted.

Cataloging of this program was made possible by Alan Alda.
