MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD: MISTER ROGERS TALKS ABOUT GRANDPARENTS {GRANDPARENTS' CAR, HOBBIES} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of programs for young children, hosted by Fred Rogers, which uses puppets and music to teach patience and cooperation, while providing guidance to help children cope with feelings and frustrations. This program is part of a week-long series about grandparents. In this episode, Mister Rogers recalls the car that his grandparents used to have and shows pictures of a similar automobile. He fondly reminisces about his grandparents, who nurtured his imagination and curiosity, and then sings "Did You Know." Next, Rogers imagines the latest developments in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, where hand-puppet characters interact with humans in the mythical kingdom of King Friday XIII. Grandpère's granddaughter Collette goes to school, where everyone discusses their hobbies. Daniel Striped Tiger frets because he has no grandfather, inspiring Collette with an idea for an opera about a tiger who wants a grandfather. Also, Franois Clemmons serenades Collette with "Then Your Heart Is Full of Love." Additionally, Mr. Aber shows a film he made about house pets and farm animals, and Rogers talks about the importance of love and demonstrates how to make a picture frame in the shape of a heart. This program is closed-captioned.
