COUSTEAU'S REDISCOVERY OF THE WORLD: AUSTRALIA: THE LAST BARRIER (TV)
Summary
One in this irregularly scheduled documentary seriesthat follows the marine explorations of Jacques Cousteau and the crew of the Calypso. In this program, Cousteau and crew travel to Australia, where they explore the Great Barrier Reef. The largest living structure in the world, the reef stretches over 1,200 miles and has sunk as many ships in the 20th century. Cousteau and the crew investigate the effects on the reef of human developments such as a floating hotel and witness the process of collective, instantaneous reproduction that takes place among the coral formations once a year. Cousteau investigates the cultural heritage of the aborigines and his divers record the first-ever underwater footage of Australia's indigenous sea crocodiles. Commercials deleted.
