LARRY SANDERS SHOW, THE: LIFE BEHIND LARRY (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series starring Garry Shandling as Larry Sanders, a late-night talk show host. In this episode, some of the network executives are discussing the possible candidates to host a talk show in the time slot following Larry's show. Larry doesn't like the celebrities the executives have mentioned and he suggests the person he would like to have host the new show. However, the executives are not thrilled over Larry's pick, Bobcat Goldthwait. Larry stands by his choice because he feels that his relationship with the affiliate stations is very good and they'll trust him fully. Meanwhile, something is printed by mistake in Hank's newsletter, which turns out to be extremely embarrassing. Hank blames Phil and just about everyone else at the station, including Sid, the cue-card man. While at the American Television Awards, Larry runs into David Letterman, who gives him advice as to whom Larry should choose for the show. Larry also persuades Letterman to reveal the person who will be hosting a new talk show following Letterman's. Goldthwait auditions for the executives and now Larry cannot imagine why he picked him, but insists on standing by his friend. The culprit in Hank's newsletter misprint confesses to Artie and he is actually proud when he realizes who did it. As the program concludes, Larry announces the name of the new host on the air that night.
