Summary
One in this mystery anthology series. Host Diana Rigg introduces the final part of this four-part program, which follows Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison on a racially-charged murder investigation. In this episode, former prime suspect David Harvey dies and Detective Oswalde becomes the target of an internal investigation into the death of detained suspect Tony Allen. Oswalde also must endure taunts from blacks in Allen's community, who label him a traitor. Tennison realizes that both Harvey's nephew Jason and Allen's sister Sarah know more than they have revealed about the girl's murder. While combing Harvey's apartment, she discovers pictures Jason took of the Allen siblings with the slain girl shortly before her death. Meanwhile, public exposure of Tennison's former relationship with Oswalde hampers the investigation, as Tennison attempts to solve the case by getting Sarah to reveal the terrible secret she is withholding.
