IT'S GARRY SHANDLING'S SHOW: WORRY WART {THIRD SEASON FINALE} (TV)

Summary

One in this cable comedy series starring standup comic Garry Shandling as himself -- the star of a television show. The show is set in a replica of Shandling's own living room and the comedian often breaks "the fourth wall" by addressing the audience directly. In this episode, Garry receives a letter from a doctor at the University of Southern California Medical Center which mentions a growth on Garry's neck he noticed in last week's show. To make sure this is true, Garry watches the tape of the show and finds he does in fact have a growth on his neck. Since he has to go to the hospital to have the growth removed, he wants Nancy to look after the house for him. When he goes to Nancy's place, he walks in on her making love with someone who is not her boyfriend Ian. At the hospital, the surgery is successful and afterwards, the doctor, who looks amazingly like Pete, gives Garry a painkiller which causes him to start acting silly. When Ian comes to the hospital, Garry tells him about Nancy's affair, which he normally wouldn't have done but the painkiller acted like a truth-serum. While reading his get-well cards, Nancy confronts Garry about why he told Ian about the incident. Now Garry has to play peacemaker between the couple so they can continue with their marriage plans.

(This series also aired on the Fox television network from 1988 to 1990.)
