YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES, THE: GERMAN EAST AFRICA, DECEMBER 1916 (TV)
Summary
One in this adventure series about a young American who travels the world and becomes involved with the historical figures and events of his time. In this episode set during World War I, Indiana is a member of a Belgian Army unit in East Africa which is sent on a dangerous mission to recover a lost munitions shipment at Cape Lopez. Promoted to the rank of captain after his passionate yet foolhardy actions lead to a significant victory over the Germans, Indiana is paired on the sojourn with the coldly pragmatic Major Bouche. Under the major's auspices, the platoon must complete a daunting trek of 2000 miles and return with valuable weapons. Along the way, the Belgian soldiers come across a village that has been decimated by small pox, save for one small boy. African soldier Sgt. Barthelemy, who has been forced to join a Belgian Army which he fears will be as depredatory to the Africans following the war as the Germans are now, refuses to leave the boy behind despite the possibility that he could infect the entire unit. In a battle of practicality versus visceral emotions, Bouche and Indiana clash about the child's welfare while continuing their inexorable march to Cape Lopez. Commercials deleted.
