Summary
This documentary explores how the arts have educated the public during the AIDS crisis. Clips of various works of art that have brought the reality of AIDS to the general public are shown, including the following: The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra playing John Corigliamo's Symphony No.1; "Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt"; "Sadness" by photographer William Yang; "April Fool's Day" by Bryce Courtenay; photographs by Nicholas Nixon; photos and text from the "Self Imaging Project"; "Desirelines" by Michael Gurr; the Freelance Dance Company performing "Love, Life, Lament"; the novel "Significant Others" by Armistead Maupin; "Shadows on the Dancefloor" by Gary Dunne; the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir performing "These Candles We Burn"; Michael Kearns performing "Rock"; "More Intimacies"; the play "The Normal Heart" by Larry Kramer; "Lovers"; Midnight Caller"; "Degrassi High"; the documentary "Silverlake Life -- The View From Here"; "Reaper Madness"; the feature films "Longtime Companion" by Norman RenŽ and "The Living End" by Gregg Araki; images by David Wojnarowicz; Tim Miller performing "My Queer Body"; "Jerker" by Robert Chesley; paintings by Brad Levido; the autobiographical play "The Destiny of Me" by Larry Kramer; "Blood and Honour" by Alex Harding; and Queen performing "Who Wants to Live Forever."
