While she attempts to care for her children, the boy's mother talks to her "friend" about dieting, her problems with men, why she dropped out of high school, and her difficulties with her own mother. Finally, Leguizamo depicts the nine year old's drunken father giving a speech at his son's wedding. At the end of the program, the nine-year-old boy demonstrates how he deals with racism without becoming violent.
