LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN {ROBERT KLEIN, MARY BETH HURT, EDDIE LAWRENCE VENTRILOQUIST DUMMY CHOIR} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of late-night talk shows hosted by Conan O'Brien. On this program, the guests include comedian Robert Klein, actress Mary Beth Hurt, and comedian Eddie Lawrence. Also featured is the Ventriloquist Dummy Choir. Highlights include: Conan O'Brien begins his opening monologue, but is interrupted by his Christmas turkey who is trying to get on his good side so that O'Brien won't eat him for his holiday dinner; O'Brien still plans to devour the turkey until the turkey reads him part of his will; O'Brien plays Santa Claus to some children who tell him what they want for Christmas -- and one child wishes to see former Mayor Ed Koch tickle himself; next Robert Klein discusses the following topics: being in O'Brien's studio many times before, meeting Jerry Lewis while walking his dog in New York City, the ridiculous amount of press coverage being given to President Bill Clinton's personal life, the show he hosts on the Entertainment Television Network, meeting the people who wear the character costumes at Disney World, and what it is like being on the series "Sisters"; the Ventriloquist Dummy Choir sings an excerpt from Handel's "Messiah"; Mary Beth Hurt then talks about the key to getting your Christmas shopping done early and not having to deal with the crowded stores, her most recent movie "Six Degrees of Separation," and what its title means (she then shows a clip from the movie); and Eddie Lawrence does a routine in which he gives advice to children who are anticipating Christmas but don't seem to be overly enthusiastic about it.
