Summary
One in this series of late-night talk shows hosted by Jon Stewart. On this program, Stewart is joined by actress Kelli Martin, comedian Richard Jeni, and the rock group Crash Test Dummies. Highlights include the following: Stewart plays a game of "Howard's Stupid Question" with stony sidekick Howard Feller; Martin discusses her current studies at Yale, participating in the play "Terra Nova" at Yale Repertory Theater, working on the recent television series "Christy," her boyfriend at Harvard, and her desire to portray the role of a blind girl; a video of Stewart and Howard before and after an extremely hot steam bath; a video about Stewart's whirlwind quasi-romance with a blonde, portly, disco-dancing, leather-clad Eurotrash man; Jeni performs a stand-up act about obnoxious New York City cab drivers and television diet gurus; Stewart interviews Jeni, who comments on his United Paramount Network sitcom "Platypus Man," his role in the film "The Mask" and why pornographic movies are never disappointing; Martin returns to introduce the Crash Test Dummies performance of "Peter Pumpkinhead," a cover version of XTC's dark, allusive pop tune. Also, the ventriloquist act "Rusty Putnam and Terry" is bumped for a second night due to the lack of time. Includes commercials.
