ROD SERLING'S NIGHT GALLERY: THEY'RE TEARING DOWN TIM RILEY'S BAR / THE LAST LAUREL (TV)
Summary
One in this supernatural anthology series hosted by Rod Serling. This episode consists of two stories: "They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar" and "The Last Laurel." In "They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar," a middle-aged salesman, Randolph Lane, learns that the bar which holds many memories for him is being demolished. At the same time, his life seems to be crumbling around him: His young assistant is dazzling the boss while Lane spends most of his time getting drunk and having hallucinations about his life in 1945 when he returned home from the war. Frustrated with Lane's long lunches and lack of productivity, his boss eventually fires him. Luckily, Lane's secretary understands the aging salesman's plight and saves not only his career but also his standard of life. In "The Last Laurel," a former runner lies paralyzed in bed after a serious car accident. Angry with the world, he has come to the false conclusion that his wife is having an affair with his doctor. Unbeknownst to anyone, the embittered man has taught himself how to leave his body and walk through his house manipulating objects as he pleases. He plans to use his new-found skills to commit the perfect crime and murder his doctor, but something goes terribly wrong and he ends up murdering the wrong person. Commercials deleted.
