Summary

One in this series of comedy/variety shows hosted by Steve Allen. Highlights of this program include the following segments: Steve Allen congratulates Tom Poston on winning an Emmy Award; Poston, Don Knotts, Louis Nye, and Anita Ekberg recreate the scene which won Poston his award; Steve Allen presents a "Report to the Nation" in which he analyzes the American teenager by talking with the father (portrayed by Louis Nye) of a teenage girl, a disc jockey played by Tom Poston, and a typical American teenager portrayed by Don Knotts; Tommy Prisco sings "Only Once"; the cast presents a spoof of detective shows entitled "The Coward"; Lenny Bruce performs a comic routine about the reviews he has received and a satire of the motion picture "The Thief of Bagdad"; he is then joined by Steve Allen in a sketch about a jazz musician and a disc jockey; Sarah Vaughan sings "Just One of Those Things" and "Misty"; the cast presents its own Emmy Awards in which Doc Severinsen makes a cameo appearance; and George Tapps and his dance troupe perform a tap routine. Includes commercials and a public service announcement for the Cerebral Palsy Association. (This is a black-and-white copy of a color telecast.)

("The Steve Allen Show" was telecast on NBC from 1956-1959. Retitled "The Steve Allen Plymouth Show," it ran on NBC from 1959-1960.)
