SMURFS' ADVENTURES: THE SMURFETTE (TV)

Summary

One in this series of animated programs about a little village inhabited by small, blue, elf-like creatures called Smurfs. In this episode, the evil Gargamel, tired of the "dreadful cheer" of Smurf happiness around him, decides to put an end to it. Wanting to get to them through their hearts, he creates the first and only female Smurf, hoping it will lead to the Smurf's downfall. Introducing the "evil" Smurfette as part of a plan to capture the other Smurfs, Gargamel observes as the Smurfs initially celebrate her arrival. Though she tries her hardest, Smurfette is unable to lure any other Smurfs back to Gargamel's lair. When she opens the dam -- as a last resort -- trying to flood the Smurf village, Smurfette is put on trial, where she breaks down and admits to having taken orders from Gargamel. Though angered at first, the Smurfs eventually forgive Smurfette. Papa Smurf even attempts to help her become a real Smurf. When the transformation is complete, her dirty black hair has become golden blonde, with a personality to match. However, Gargamel is unhappy with the change and tells Smurfette to plan a surprise party for the Smurfs. When Smurfette arranges the big day, Gargamel fools her and captures the Smurfs in a box, aided by his feline cohort Azrael. Smurfette later overhears Gargamel's master plan to dispose of the Smurfs, forcing her to come up with her own design to save the day. Commercials deleted.
