HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET: FIRE {PART 1 OF 2} {FOURTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic police series about a department of reflective homicide detectives in Baltimore, Maryland. In this episode, part one of two, a fire at a warehouse produces a charred corpse but no witnesses. Detectives Pembleton and Bayliss meet arson division veteran Detective Mike Kellerman, who expresses his opinions about the fire and the dead body. Pembleton and Kellerman, who have a difference of opinion and style, clash immediately. Meanwhile, Detective Howard decides to take the sergeant's exam, and Detective Munch thinks she's crazy. Kellerman shares some information about the owner of the burned-down warehouse, Mitch Roland, possibly setting the fire himself to collect insurance money. Then a girl tells the detectives about how the warehouse was a meeting spot for her and her boyfriend, who was positively identified as the charred victim. Munch cannot bear to have Howard taking the exam and decides to take it himself, which sparks some friendly competition, along with some wagering. The forensic report shows that gasoline was the cause of the fire, and Pembleton receives an anonymous phone call regarding a gasoline can hidden in a garbage dumpster. After their main suspect's alibi checks out, Pembleton reveals to Bayliss that his wife is pregnant. Despite losing their suspect, the investigation is moving along smoothly until word of another warehouse fire hits the precinct. Commercials deleted. Continues with T:40757.
