TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON, THE {MARILU HENNER, BRIAN REGAN, DIANE REEVES} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of late-night talk/variety programs hosted by Johnny Carson. On this program, the guests include actress Marilu Henner, comedian Brian Regan, and singer Diane Reeves. In his opening monologue, Carson comments on the following topics, among others: the televising of an exorcism on the news magazine show "20/20," the problems with the ozone layer being linked to the use of hairspray, the upcoming time change and his never knowing how to set the clock on his VCR, the suspension of the Los Angeles police chief, and the theft of two tons of elephant manure from the circus. Next, Carson shows a picture sent in by a viewer that mysteriously has Carson in it. The first guest, Marilu Henner, talks about the unusual spelling of her first name, the number of times she's been on the show, the renewal of "Evening Shade" for another season, her family background, casting her brother for a small part on "Evening Shade," being with her husband for nearly six years but only being married for less than a year, and what her sex life is like since her marriage. The next guest, Brian Regan, performs a stand-up comedy routine in which he jokes about being nervous all the time, talking too fast and mixing phrases together, meeting a women the other day and thinking she was pregnant, the task of buying light bulbs, putting peanut butter and jelly in the same jar, being woken-up in the middle of the night by a barking dog, and what it would be like if people acted like dogs. Next, Diane Reeves performs "Love For Sale" and "Afro Blue." Regan then joins the other guests and talks about his career and expectations. Includes commercials and promos.
