The next segment, "Transcending Greatness," examines how players seem to save their best moments for Monday nights. Highlights include the following: former quarterback Joe Montana orchestrates a come-from-behind victory against the Denver Broncos in 1994; Shula's judgment is questioned during a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1973; Shula's Miami Dolphins beat the Chicago Bears -- their first loss of the 1985 season; wide receiver Jerry Rice, quarterback Steve Young, and coach George Seifert recall Rice breaking the touchdown record in 1994; and legendary running back Walter Payton recalls Smith's record for the most touchdowns in a season in 1995. Next, "More Than a Game" looks at the following heart-stirring moments away from the field: Patty Hearst's mother reading a message to her daughter at half-time in 1974; musician John Lennon stopping by the broadcast booth in 1975, and the sad announcement of his death at a 1980 game; former New England Patriots wide receiver Darryl Stingley returning to an emotional home crowd ovation in 1978, one month after he was paralyzed from a hit during a pre-season game; a 1992 interview with running back Marcus Allen about Los Angeles Raiders owner Al Davis; and former quarterback Phil Simms having his number retired by the New York Giants in 1995, and his last pass to former teammate Lawrence Taylor. Next, "Season Ticket," previews the upcoming season and its possible key match-ups. In "Mr. Highlights," which examines the popular half-time show, players Thurman Thomas, Payton, Jim Kelly, Boomer Esiason, Brett Favre, and Greg Lloyd recall how they anticipated legendary Howard Cosell narrating the highlights of the week, and the new host of the half-time show, Chris Berman, looks at plays from the previous season.
