ANDY WARHOL'S TV: WITH MARIEL HEMINGWAY, MARC
ALMOND OF SOFT CELL, JIM FOURATT (TV)
Summary
One in this series of talk/interview programs, loosely
adapted from Andy Warhol's Interview magazine. This
program opens with model/actress Mariel Hemingway
being made up and dressed for an Interview photo
session. Hemingway then talks with Bob Colacello,
Brigid Berlin, and Warhol about the following topics:
her role as a lesbian athlete in the movie "Personal
Best" (1982); her feelings about kissing another woman;
female athletes' reactions to the film; and her
interpretation of the film. Berlin talks with Hemingway
about her ability to cry in dramatic scenes, the
upcoming film "Star 80" (1982), and appearing nude in
films. This program's second segment features Jim
Fouratt giving a tour of his nightclub, Danceteria,
followed by his interview with Marc Almond of the music
group Soft Cell. Almond comments on the following
topics: his version of "Tainted Love" and the
connotations inherent in the lyrics; the music movement
in England called Northern Soul; the origin of the song
"Sex Dwarf"; the unusual, imaginative sets in his
performances; his outrageous lifestyle; and the
atypically moving and poignant lyrics in the song "Say
Hello, Wave Good-Bye."
Cataloging of this program was made possible by the
Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, 1999.
