DREW CAREY SHOW, THE: WIN A DATE WITH KATE (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies starring stand-up comedian Drew Carey as a single guy who attempts to juggle his romantic endeavors and his menial job at a Cleveland department store, while maintaining his sense of humor. In this episode, Drew, Oswald, and Lewis devise a promotion campaign for Buzz Beer in which the winner gets to go on a date with Kate. Kate is told of her role in the promotion, and Mr. Wick ends up winning the date with her. Drew tries to convince Mr. Wick that going on the date with Kate would be wrong since Mr. Wick is her boss, but Mr. Wick decides to go anyway. Kate is nauseated by the thought of spending an evening with Mr. Wick, but she grits her teeth and goes anyway. When Kate returns from the date, the guys are shocked to learn that the date went smoothly. And they are mortified when they notice that Kate and Mr. Wick seem to be crazy about each other. One day Mr. Wick fires Drew since Mr. Wick feels that his budding relationship with Kate was sabotaged by Drew. While Drew is packing up his belongings, Kate and Mr. Wick inform him that they were playing a practical joke the whole time. After the joke has been revealed, Mr. Wick tells Kate what their role-playing has meant to him. Kate wants to tell Mr. Wick how she feels about him, and Drew steps in with some quick thinking to make sure that nobody gets hurt. Includes commercials, promos, and a public service announcement featuring Ki-Jana Carter for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. This program is closed-captioned.
