GUIDING LIGHT {ROGER PLUNGES TO HIS DEATH} (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running daytime serial about the residents of the midwestern town of Springfield. In this episode, Ed and Michael are hunting for Roger, who is holding Holly captive somewhere in Santo Domingo. Unsure of whether Holly is still alive, they remain determined to stop Roger from doing more harm to their family. Highlights include the following: Roger shoots Ed and then knocks out Michael so he can escape; in Springfield, Tim tells Kelly that he's not going to enroll at Springfield High due to the rumors about him and his expulsion from Lincoln; Michael confronts Roger and a tense struggle ensues as Ed, weakened from the gunshot, tries to overcome Holly's captor; Roger rushes toward Ed and falls over the cliff and, although Ed reaches out to pull him to safety, Roger loses his grasp and plunges to his death; and, when word of Roger's death spreads to Springfield, Alan wonders why the important paperwork that Roger was carrying has not yet been found. Commercials deleted.
(The title of this series was "The Guiding Light" on radio from 1937 to 1956 and on television from 1952 to 1977; in 1977 the title was changed to "Guiding Light.")
