DHARMA & GREG {DHARMA AND GREG}: PILOT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The premiere of this comedy series about two unlikely soulmates: Dharma, a yoga instructor who was raised by hippies, and her husband Greg, an assistant U.S. attorney for the Justice Department. The program begins in 1977 on a San Francisco subway platform, where a flower child named Dharma Finklestein spots a blue-blooded preppie named Greg Montgomery. Twenty years later, they meet again on the subway, but lose each another in the shuffle. Once Dharma tracks Greg down, the two instantly fall in love. After attending a ball game, they jet to Reno for pie and, impulsively, marry in Nevada on their first date. After a romp in a honeymoon suite, the two arrange to visit their diametrically opposed in-laws. Dharma's bohemian, free-thinking mother, Abby, seems pleased with her new son-in-law after reading his palm, but the marriage is dire news for Greg's conservative parents, Kitty and Edward Montgomery. Dharma's passionate, honest approach to life shocks the staunch Republicans. Soon Dharma and Greg are bickering about whether people should speak freely and unabashedly. In the wake of the couple's first fight, the Montgomerys are concerned about the lack of a prenuptial agreement, while Larry Finkelstein is simply upset that Dharma has joined the institution of marriage. Since Greg believes in true love, and Dharma follows the will of the universe, the two must find a way to work out their differences. Includes commercials.
