FERNWOOD TONIGHT {FERNWOOD 2 NIGHT}: FAN CLUB PRESIDENT (TV)

Summary

One in this series of satirical, mock talk shows set in Fernwood, Ohio, hosted by the smarmy Barth Gimble and his dim-witted sidekick Jerry Hubbard.

Barth opens the show by welcoming Mercedes Blyeweiss, the president of his fan club, who presents him with a commemorative plaque. The plaque is typed rather than engraved, due to modest fan club funds. Next, Jerry discusses his new sex education book for children, which does away with traditional euphemisms for parts of the human body. Finally, consumer advocate Lou Moffett demonstrates the teaching methods of the Mister Boogie Dance Studio -- a Gimbleco enterprise -- on audience member Wilona Delucchi, who masters the difficult steps with suspicious ease. Commercials deleted.

(Martin Mull and Fred Willard reprised their roles as Barth Gimble and Jerry Hubbard in "America Tonight," telecast in syndication in 1978.)
