SESAME STREET {BABIES} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of educational children's programs that teaches numbers and the alphabet, along with social and cultural concepts, to pre-schoolers. Set on the fanciful urban block of Sesame Street, the series features Jim Henson's live-action Muppets, animation, short films, and a cast of adults and children. In this program, Big Bird plans to go to the beach, and he has everything he needs -- except an adult to take him. Hoping that Big Bird's plans are ruined, Grungetta follows Big Bird around as he tries to find an adult who will take him to the beach. But Big Bird runs into the same problem: every adult is taking care of at least one baby. As a result, Big Bird begins to feel that the adults love the babies more than him. This program also includes the following segments: animated segments about a family that uses a "checklist" to pack for a trip, and about a toddler who climbs two steps all by himself; a translation of Muppet Natasha's version of the alphabet into English letters; a conversation among children about ducks that live at their school; an animated segment in which a man straightens out a mixed-up sign; a musical number that features Muppets singing about the people one meets in the first grade; animated segments about "what comes next?" and about the variety of human emotions; a musical number that features three Muppet babies performing "Shake Your Rattle and Roll"; short segments about the letter "M"; Ernie's attempts to figure out how he and his cousin, Ernestine, are alike; a short film on babies; a segment on counting; the discovery of the word "feet" by the "yip-yip" aliens; short segments on the terms "up" and "down"; a musical number about Snuffle-upagus's bath; a short film on the life of an African child; short clips about the number zero; a musical number featuring a baby Muppet who sings about her day; a film about Hispanic families; an animated segment on the word "love"; profiles of different types of families; a dance by Elmo; Herbert's assumption that Grover, whose mouth is stuffed with peanut butter, is demonstrating the sound of the letter "M"; an explanation of different kinds of families, featuring four Muppets; and a segment on trying things for the first time. This program is sponsored by the letter "M" and the number "0." As the program concludes, Big Bird presents scenes from the next show.
