HAPPY DAYS: THE MECHANIC (TV)
Summary
One in the series of comedies about life in the 1950s. In this episode, Chachi thinks Fonz needs more help around Bronko's Auto Repairing. At Al's, Richie's band plays before Fonz arrives to pick up his order. Back at the garage, Fonz is visited by a job applicant, the wheelchair-bound Don Konig. Fonz is surprised but Don claims he can handle all aspects of the job and is hired, despite an extremely defensive attitude. That night, Fonz reveals to the Cunninghams that Don is driving him nuts. Fonz would like to fire Don but admits it won't be that simple. Fonz says that Don will be coming over to give Richie a haircut, a form of therapy for Don that he learned in the hospital. Once at the Cunningham home, Don is rude to everyone after explaining that a drunk driver was responsible for putting him in the wheelchair. The next day, Richie comes by the garage and Fonz states that Don quit. He says that Don's anger may be due to the fact that he was a mechanic before his accident. Fonz wants to help and he encourages Richie to locate Don. When Don is brought back to the garage, Fonz tries to make amends but the man remains rude. An argument ensues with Don being confronted by Fonz in a wheelchair. That night, Fonz is depressed about how the situation ended. Then, Don arrives at the Cunningham home where he offers an apology for being "difficult." Finally, Fonz convinces Don to help him fix a car at the shop, with Don ultimately accepting his job back. Commercials deleted.
