This program looks at the ten most fascinating people of the year 1997, who are listed as follows: actress/comedienne Ellen DeGeneres, scientist Dr. Ian Wilmut, dancer Michael Flatley, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, chairman of the Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan, singer Elton John, golf champion Tiger Woods, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, television show host Kathie Lee Gifford, and the single most fascinating person of 1997, Prince William. Highlights include: Ellen DeGeneres speaks about being a pioneer in bringing gay issues and characters to television, and increasing the acceptance of homosexuality; Scottish scientist Dr. Ian Wilmut discusses the advantages and the dangers of cloning, and the possibilities of cloning humans; "Riverdance" star Michael Flatley describes his form of dance which brings traditional Irish step-dancing to the modern stage; and Arnold Schwarzenegger talks about the impact of his heart surgery.
