NYPD BLUE: DEAD MAN TALKING (TV)
Summary
One in this series of rough-edged police dramas about the cases and private lives of the detectives and station house personnel of a Manhattan precinct. In this episode, Detectives Sipowicz and Simone investigate the double homicide of a wife and her infant son, who were shot execution-style, while the husband, Paul Angelos, suffers a stomach wound. Noticing the absence of signs of struggle, Sipowicz is visibly moved looking at the dead infant in its crib. Meanwhile, Lt. Fancy receives a surprise visit from an ailing old friend, Harvey Boutier, who has information about an unsolved murder case from fifteen years earlier. Also, Detectives Russell, Medavoy, and Martinez investigate the beating and death of a rock 'n' roll manager in his office bathroom, which came as no surprise to his colleagues. Meanwhile, Sipowicz and Simone speak with Mrs. Angelos's mother, who thinks little of her wounded son-in-law, and retired detective Vince Gotelli, now working in life insurance, tells them about a policy that Angelos had on his wife and son. When they ask a strip club owner why her number frequently appears on Angelos's phone records, she directs them to a new friend of his who, according to Fancy, was recently arrested. In the meantime, Harvey admits the role he played in a fifteen-year-old murder, and Fancy wants to know why he took so long to come forward. When Sipowicz and Simone question the possible suspect in the double homicide, he admits that Angelos hired him to kill his family, and ultimately, Angelos tells the truth about the shootings during a lie detector test. Also, Russell, Medavoy, and Martinez are unable to find suspects because anyone associated with the deceased manager is happy that he is gone. When a cleaning man from the office building tells the three detectives what he knows, Russell becomes painfully aware that the man has a temper problem.
