PRACTICE, THE: RACE WITH THE DEVIL (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas about the idealistic attorneys at a struggling Boston law practice. In this episode, Bobby counsels his priest, Father Martin, whose unauthorized exorcism on one of his parishioners resulted in her death from a heart attack. Father Martin is faced with a moral dilemma, as he is convinced of his responsibility for the woman's death but scared of the possible arrest, manslaughter charges, and loss of his parish if he goes to the police with his guilt. Bobby, with the support of Ellen and Lindsay, aggressively works every connection and legal trick he can in order to prevent Father Martin from being implicated in the woman's premature death. Meanwhile, Eugene gets stuck representing a notoriously neurotic and difficult client who makes an urgent call to the firm in the middle of a proctological exam, claiming that he is being assaulted by his doctor. Also in this episode, in order to drum up new business, Jimmy decides to run a television advertisement, much to the chagrin of the other members of the practice. After several unsuccessful attempts to film a standard commercial, Jimmy uses a more unconventional approach to appeal to his prospective clients that leaves his coworkers speechless. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements.
