FERNWOOD TONIGHT {FERNWOOD 2 NIGHT}: GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR WARRANTY (TV)
Summary
One in this series of satirical, mock talk shows set in Fernwood, Ohio, hosted by the smarmy Barth Gimble and his dim-witted sidekick Jerry Hubbard.
Barth opens the show with the proposal that local school children work as interns to prepare "Fernwood Tonight's" cue cards, thereby increasing their literacy skills. Channel Six sportscaster Jane Tiffany then joins Barth and Jerry, who mount a phone campaign to find her a new residence; one caller suggests Barth's apartment, to the host's obvious pleasure. Next up is mechanic Virgil Simms, who offers suggestions on methods to exploit car warranties before they expire. Finally, retired men's room attendant Albert Hotsun joins the panel to discuss his illustrious forty-two-year tenure at the Fernwood bus station. Commercials deleted.
(Martin Mull and Fred Willard reprised their roles as Barth Gimble and Jerry Hubbard in "America Tonight," telecast in syndication in 1978.)
