FERNWOOD TONIGHT {FERNWOOD 2 NIGHT}: TONY ROLETTI AND SUSAN CLOUD (TV)
Summary
One in this series of satirical, mock talk shows set in Fernwood, Ohio, hosted by the smarmy Barth Gimble and his dim-witted sidekick Jerry Hubbard.
In this installment, Barth complains about a recent traffic ticket before welcoming Tony Roletti, a local lounge singer who mangles "I Write the Songs" and plugs his self-financed "greatest hits" album. Barth's next guest is Susan Cloud, proprietor of the Butterfly Deli health food restaurant. She discusses the deli's theme nights, such as "India Relief Night." Barth closes the show with his French-themed signature song, "Don't Say 'Au Revoir,' Say 'Hors d'oeuvres'," with a beret, a crust of bread, and a red-checked table cloth enhancing the ambience. Commercials deleted.
(Martin Mull and Fred Willard reprised their roles as Barth Gimble and Jerry Hubbard on "America Tonight," telecast in syndication in 1978.)
