HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET: LIES AND OTHER TRUTHS (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic police series about a department of reflective homicide detectives in Baltimore, Maryland. In this episode, the department investigates two bizarre, apparently accidental deaths, while Dr. Julianna Cox and Falsone confront serious moral dilemmas. When Jerry and Ava Dietz cut off a State Road Management truck on the freeway, the result is an accident that leaves Jerry decapitated and Ava paralyzed. But an eyewitness upholds Ava's claims that the tragedy was no accident, but a deliberate attempt by the truck driver to force the couple off the road. When Ava files a major lawsuit against the state, Julianna becomes the medical examiner performing the autopsy on Jerry Dietz. According to her autopsy, Jerry was sober and able to drive, but the state insists that she prove he was driving under the influence, thus placing her in an awkward position. Meanwhile, Pembleton and Bayliss investigate the case of a man, Ashley Acton, who was buried alive. According to Mrs. Acton, her husband was a member of a secret group of men aspiring to be spies, and his burial was one of their training missions -- not a murder. The detectives find proof of Mrs. Acton's story, but when they try to determine who was involved in the mission and the reason it went wrong, their investigation provokes ravings by an insane man. Also, Falsone is caught in a fierce custody battle over his son, and his career as a police officer is used against him. He soon wonders if his instable life could have a negative impact on his son, but upon thinking of his own father and lost young boys on the streets, he feels a renewed determination to be a better father.
