PRACTICE, THE: TREES IN THE FOREST (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas about the idealistic attorneys at a struggling Boston law practice. In this episode, Eugene defends Raymond Barnette, a member of a street gang who accidentally killed his friend Charlie during the gang's initiation rites of "jumping in." Eugene's dilemma, even though he believes Raymond's story, is in helping the member of a gang that gets kids involved in drug trafficking. Helen Gamble prosecutes Mr. Feldman, an "average American citizen," who is being tried for killing a homeless man in a hit-and-run case. The case gives her a feeling for the plight of the homeless as well as the importance of every human life. Meanwhile, Lindsay's demand for equity in the firm causes tremendous tension among the attorneys, brings her feelings for Bobby to the forefront, and forces Bobby to reevaluate himself and his business. Rebecca is honored at a luncheon for her work on behalf of local animal shelters, but blows up on the dais when she learns that some of her fellow animal rights activists berate her for killing a rat in her office.
