KABC TALK RADIO WITH LARRY ELDER {PAULA JONES
CASE} {LIVE BROADCAST FROM THE MUSEUM OF
TELEVISION & RADIO} {TAPE 2 OF 3} (RADIO)
Summary
Continued from T:52728. Tape two of three in this talk radio series, led by politically conservative host, Larry Elder -- the "sage of South Central." Interspersed throughout the program are regular traffic, weather, business, and news reports. In this edition, broadcast live on KABC-Radio from The Museum of Television & Radio in Los Angeles, Elder focuses on the recent ruling in the Paula Jones suit against President Bill Clinton, which found that Clinton did not sexually harass Jones. Fellow KABC talk show host attorney Gloria Allred discusses sexual harassment with Elder, arguing that legally Jones had no case since she lacked proof that Clinton's advances damaged her professionally or personally. When Elder draws a parallel between the allegations of Jones and Anita Hill, pointing out inconsistent definitions of sexual harassment in the two cases, Allred counters that the difference is that Hill did not sue Thomas. Comments include: Starr's allegations of perjury, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering; the possibilities of a relationship between Clinton and Monica Lewinsky; and the validity of Kathleen Willey's claims of sexual harassment. Next, viewers call in and discuss the following subjects: a story about sexual harassment; charges against Sen. Bob Packwood (R-Oreg.) and Sgt. Major Gene McKinney; suggestions for stricter definitions of sexual harassment in the business world; reasons why women choose not to file charges; differences between acts of sexual misconduct, sexual assault, and a continuous atmosphere of sexual harassment; and changing public opinion of Kenneth Starr. Next, Elder plays a quote from Hillary Clinton about a "vast right-wing conspiracy" and asks listeners to identify the conspiracy. Elder lists conservative figures, explaining why each is not a candidate. Listeners discuss the following topics: the right-wing funding of Paula Jones's suit against Clinton; the right-wing publication The American Spectator vs. the left-wing The Nation; a possible left-wing conspiracy; Republicans' hesitancy to speak out against Clinton for fear of investigations into their own affairs; dangers of Democratic tax policies; and investigation into the Clintons' backgrounds, funded by The American Spectator, compared to White House investigations of women alleging sexual harassment by Clinton. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements. Continues with T:52730.
