MUSEUM OF TELEVISION & RADIO SCREENING SERIES, THE:
THE COMPLETE AND UTTER HISTORY OF MONTY PYTHON'S
FLYING CIRCUS, PACKAGE 4: "SEX AND VIOLENCE" AND
OTHER TOUCHY SUBJECTS
Summary
"'Sex and Violence' and other touchy subjects"
Rarely seen pre-Python material includes several 1967
John Cleese appearances on "Frost Over England," clips
from 1967Õs "At Last the 1948 Show" with Cleese and
Graham Chapman, and the premiere of the highly original
childrenÕs series "Do Not Adjust Your Set" (1968),
featuring the work of Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and
Michael Palin.
The first episode of "Monty PythonÕs Flying Circus" was
"Sex and Violence" (1969), which features Deidre and
Arthur PuteyÕs visit to the marriage guidance counselor,
a hungry pram, and an exposŽ about a hitherto little
known subculture: men with a "mouse problem."
Although, for reasons of public safety, the "killer
joke" from the second episode of Monty Python cannot be
translated into English, Idle bravely told the joke in
German at a 1989 seminar at The Museum of Television &
Radio (then known as The Museum of Broadcasting).
