SEINFELD: THE ENGLISH PATIENT (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series set in New York City in which comedian Jerry Seinfeld plays himself. In this episode, a beautiful woman named Danielle mistakes George for her boyfriend Neil, whom he apparently resembles. Meanwhile, in Florida to help his parents move, Jerry agrees to do Kramer a favor and pick up some Cubans for Kramer's new cigar business. Elaine and her boyfriend Blaine see the film "The English Patient," which Elaine dislikes. In Florida, Jerry's father introduces Jerry to Izzy, an eighty-year-old man who proceeds to throw his back out after challenging Jerry to a weight-lifting contest. "The English Patient" begins to have repercussions for Elaine when Blaine breaks off their relationship, telling her that he cannot continue to see someone who does not like the film. Jerry is shocked to discover that the Cubans Kramer wants him to deliver are actual people rather than cigars. Nevertheless, he brings them back to New York, where Kramer learns that they may not be suitable as cigar rollers after all. George ends up going out to dinner with Danielle, but he is so obsessed with meeting her boyfriend that he doesn't even notice she is becoming interested in him. Izzy blames Jerry for his back injury and goes to a New York hospital for treatment. There, Izzy's son and father both show up and prove that they share his inclination toward braggadocio -- and his vulnerability to self-inflicted injury. Elaine's friends all begin to turn on her when she admits that she hated "The English Patient." Finally, Danielle and George start dating, but Neil returns to the picture. Commercials deleted.
