OZ: THE TIP {SECOND SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas set in Oswald Maximum Security Penitentiary, nicknamed "Oz." This episode is set during the aftermath of the Em City riots, as Governor Devlin assigns a commission to investigate the riots, and the staff and inmates adjust to the changes that have taken place. McManus is in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound; alleged riot instigators Said, O'Reilly, and Adebisi are placed in solitary confinement; and the rest of the Em City inmates have been returned to the general population of Oz with mixed results. Alvah Case, head of the governor's investigatory commission, enters Oz to conduct interviews and get to the bottom of the riots, but he is stonewalled by prisoners and staff alike. Everyone Case interviews has a different story, and no one takes responsibility for the violence. But amidst the confusion, Case recognizes that one of the prisoners, Scott Ross, has been murdered and he is determined to find the culprit. But his repeated questions antagonizes the Em City veterans and other members on his commission. Meanwhile, mayhem results in the general population when Wangler and Adebisi suffer from drug withdrawal, and Beecher's cellmate tries to force him to perform oral sex. But Beecher's circumstances prove to be helpful to Case, since Beecher is compelled to offer him an important clue in solving the murder. Ultimately, the investigations are fruitless because everyone, from the governor to Warden Glynn, has conflicting motives that bring the commission to a standstill.
