GUIDING LIGHT {ANNIE AND ALAN'S WEDDING FIASCO} (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running daytime serial about the residents of the midwestern town of Springfield. This episode begins after a serious argument between Matt and Vanessa about her decision to carry her pregnancy to full-term, despite the serious detrimental effects to her health. Matt asks Ross for advice and learns that the only way to force Vanessa to have a Caesarian section is to have her deemed mentally incompetent in court. But Vanessa enlists Jenna's help to get her away from Matt, if necessary, and deliver her baby naturally. And, just as Annie and Alan are about to say "I do," Eddie Banks arrives at the ceremony, thanks to Reva, and announces that he and Annie are still formally married. Alan calls off the wedding and, upon verifying Eddie's story, breaks off his relationship with Annie despite her tearful pleas. In addition, Cassie and Hart lock Dinah in a closet during the wedding once they learn that she destroyed evidence which implicated Annie in bigamy; Phillip and Harley argue about her complicity in halting the wedding; and Beth sees a chance to regain control over Phillip. Annie's disastrous day ends as she spends her wedding night in custody. Commercials deleted.
(The title of this series was "The Guiding Light" on radio from 1937 to 1956 and on television from 1952 to 1977; in 1977 the title was changed to "Guiding Light.")
