STANLEY TONIGHT: ROCKET TO STARDOM VARIETY SHOW {STANLEY SIEGEL} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of San Diego based talk shows hosted by Stanley Siegel. In this edition, Siegel acts as master of ceremonies for a local variety/talent competition judged by San Diego disc jockeys Lee Maribal of KIFM and Tom "Shotgun" Kelly of KMFB, as well as Korean-War combat nurse Ramona Burk. The acts include the Pumps, a toga-clad new-wave band, performing their original song, "Credit"; the Hooken Clutch Quartet, singing a barbershop arrangement of "Turn Your Radio On"; belly dancer Shanti, "weaving a spell of magic seldom seen on television since the old black-and-white days"; a singer/songwriter identified only as Politician, performing his love song to California earthquakes, "Andrea"; two-year-old Ashley Graham, tap dancing to Taco's "Puttin' on the Ritz"; Seaport Village magician Craig Stone performing rope tricks; Paco B. Loco, a man dressed as a bumblebee, playing a jazzy arrangement of "The Flight of the Bumblebee"; and Layla Alred, singing "Love Is Where You Find It." At the end of the program Siegel rewards the first, second, and third place winners with gift certificates for a local restaurant. Commercials deleted.
