TWILIGHT ZONE, THE: THE MIDNIGHT SUN (TV)

Summary

One in this fantasy/science fiction anthology series hosted by Rod Serling. As this episode opens, friends Norma and Mrs. Bronson are saying good-bye to the last neighbors from their apartment building; everyone else has set off for the other side of the Earth. The planet is headed right for the sun, and people seem to think that if they make it to the other side, they will find some relief from the scorching temperatures, which have reached 112 degrees and are still counting. Norma and Mrs. Bronson have decided to say behind and face their fate, but the situation is becoming more dire. Norma manages to loot a grocery store for some fruit juice before she is attacked by the city's growing population of rioters and looters, but the friends are running out of water, and the paucity of power keeps them from running the air conditioner for more than an hour a day. While they are contemplating their next move, a disc jockey on the radio begins to lose his composure. "I don't want to panic you," he stammers before announcing to everyone that the citizens of Earth are rapidly approaching extinction. Before the two friends even have time to consider this news, a strange man breaks into the apartment with the intention of guzzling their last drops of water. Commercials deleted.
