SOPRANOS, THE: COLLEGE (TV)

Summary

One in this darkly comic, dramatic series centering around the crime empire and family life of Tony Soprano, a modern-day Mafia boss. This episode follows Tony and Meadow on a trip to Maine, where she is applying to colleges. En route, Meadow asks her father if he is part of the mob and learns that he is indeed involved in illegal activities. But Tony does his best to keep the more brutal aspects of his "business" a secret. In keeping with this new spirit of honesty in their relationship, Meadow tells him about her experimentation with drugs, but refuses to expose her supplier for fear of the actions that Tony would take against Christopher. Stopping for gas, Tony recognizes Fabian Petrullio, a stool pigeon who had informed on much of the mob, and who is now living in Maine under the name Frederick Peters. Tony spends much of the trip trying to locate Fabian while Meadow is occupied with her college visits. Back home in New Jersey, local priest Father Phil pays a visit to Carmela: after dinner and a theological discussion, she makes a formal confession and admits her knowledge of Tony's illegal and violent affairs. As they indulge in communion wine, the discussion begins to heat up. On their way home, Meadow rightfully suspects Tony of committing foul play while she was on her college interview. Upon returning to New Jersey, problems ensue as Tony learns that Father Phil stayed at his house overnight, and Carmela learns that Tony's psychiatrist is a woman.
