SOPRANOS, THE: I DREAM OF JEANNIE CUSAMANO {FIRST SEASON FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this darkly comic, dramatic series centering around the crime empire and family life of Tony Soprano, a modern-day Mafia boss. In this episode, Junior agrees with Tony's suggestion that Jimmy is wearing a wire and that the matter must be taken care of immediately. Meadow wonders why Livia at her house instead of the nursing home. And Meadow and Tony, Jr., are confused when a disoriented Livia cannot remember who Meadow is. Tony tells Dr. Melfi that Livia is undergoing tests for Alzheimer's disease. As Melfi tries to explain the condition to Tony, he becomes enraged when she suggests that Livia could have been involved in the attempt on his life. Meanwhile, the FBI gathers undeniable proof that Junior orchestrated the attempted hit on Tony. But Tony refuses to testify, even after overhearing a conversation between his mother and Junior. Also, Arthur tells Livia he thinks Tony was responsible for the fire at his previous restaurant. Tony meets with Christopher, Paulie, and Silvio to discuss the actions that must be taken against Junior and his loyal men. Tony warns Melfi that she may be in grave danger and should leave town as soon as possible. And Arthur demands -- by gunpoint -- that Tony admit the absolute truth about the fire. During a family dinner, Livia says she has no idea who Arthur is, and Tony becomes suspicious about her real health condition. While Mikey is jogging, Christopher and Paulie track him down and make sure he cannot follow Junior's orders anymore. Ultimately, the FBI arrests Junior and other family heads on federal racketeering charges; Carmela, uncertain of Father Phil's intentions, says he should avoid the house for awhile; and after Livia suffers a stroke, Tony explains that he knows about her plans with Junior. Ultimately, while driving through a rainstorm to their aunt's house, Tony and his family must seek food and shelter at Arthur's new restaurant. This program is closed-captioned.
