DESIGNING WOMEN: THEY SHOOT FAT WOMEN, DON'T THEY? (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about four Southern women who run an interior decorating business, Sugarbakers, in Atlanta. In this episode, Suzanne is nervous about attending her high school reunion since she has gained a significant amount of weight since graduation. Sure enough, at the opening cocktail party her feelings are hurt by some cruel classmates who make fun of her size, both behind her back and to her face. Julia gives her a pep talk, convincing her that appearances should not be supremely important, even to an ex-beauty queen like Suzanne. Consequently, when Suzanne wins the award for "most changed," she looks at it as an honor instead of an insult, acknowledging that time has caused her to change for the better after all. Meanwhile, the significance of food takes on a whole new meaning when Anthony convinces Julia and Mary Jo to participate in a forty-eight hour fund-raising fast to combat world hunger. Commercials deleted.
