PRACTICE, THE: FREE DENTAL {FOURTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The fourth season premiere in this series of dramas about the idealistic attorneys at a struggling Boston law practice. In this episode, the practice defends a dentist named Dr. Henry Olson, who is accused of murdering one of his female patients. The victim was killed during one of her regular early morning teeth cleaning appointments, at a time when she and Dr. Olson were the only ones in the office. Although Dr. Olson is the immediate suspect, there is no direct evidence linking him to the killing, and Donnell hopes to create reasonable doubt by pointing to other possible suspects. However, since the beginning of the case, Donnell and the prosecuting D.A. have been at each other's throats, both equally determined to win the case. First the D.A. shows the jury an inflammatory police videotape of the victim, and then he schocks everyone in the courtroom, including Dr. Olson, by introducing new and incriminating evidence mid-trial. In spite of DonnellÕs complaints, the presiding judge chooses to allow the trial to continue. And as Donnell and Berluti question Olson about the latest evidence, they uncover the bizarre story of the dentistÕs secret relationship with the murder victim. Meanwhile, George Vogelman, an old client, returns to the practice and asks Ellenor to help him fight his co-opÕs attempts to evict him because of his connection to a gruesome murder case. Although Ellenor tries to play on Judge KittlesonÕs sympathies, VogelmanÕs petition is denied. However, Vogelman reveals to Ellenor that part of the reason he returned to the practice was to get closer to her. Flattered, Ellenor briefly considers a romantic relationship with Vogelman. As the Olson case comes to a close, Dr. Olson reveals the real identity of the murderer to Berluti in complete confidence. And while Berluti is stunned by the revelation, he honors his clientÕs wishes by keeping the secret. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements.
