MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN {EPISODE 76} {THE AFTERMATH OF LORETTA'S TV DEBUT} (TV)
Summary
The second of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, during a Clete Mizenheimer special news report from Hollywood, Loretta tries to apologize for her anti-Semitic remark on the Dinah Shore program, and Charlie explains that despite the cancellation of her singing engagements Loretta's career will be back on track in no time. Back in Fernwood, Mary is upset by the news about Loretta and calls Dr. Fermin to get more medication for her depression; Muriel is concerned that Loretta's negative publicity will reduce her share of the Haggers coffers; Ed McCullough complains about Heather's snooping around his house and digging up his rose bushes; Martha and Cathy's discussion of prejudice is interrupted when Roberta bursts in and demands that Cathy stop seeing Dennis; and Tom is approached by two sinister, large men who claim to work at the plant -- in the "breaks" department.
