Summary
The second of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, Mr. Ackerman tells Mary that she will be released from the psychiatric hospital soon in order to participate in Fernwood's Mary Hartman Day and represent America's consumers by choosing products to be placed in the town's time capsule. Gore Vidal, with whom Mary has forged a special bond, is proposed as the master of ceremonies for the occasion. Grandpa visits Mary at the hospital and is the only person who agrees with her that Chester is a dangerous man. Loretta tells Dr. Medwick about her sexual frustration and the alarming erotic dreams she has been having, and he suggests some exercises that she and Charlie can do together to restore normalcy to their relationship. Meanwhile, Cathy contemplates having an abortion, and Martha receives a suspect letter concerning George's whereabouts. Commercials deleted.
