Summary
The first of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, Mary confides in her journal that Tom only pays attention to her in bed, and she feels like a sex object; Brian and Christine offer Cathy $40,000 for her baby, on the condition that she also give them a second baby -- to be fathered by Brian; Loretta cries out in agony about her sexual frustration, and when Mary meets Jody Troxel, the handsome young drag racer who has come to stay with the Haggers, she warns Loretta to beware of temptation; Wanda is titillated by Merle's confession of his lustful past and designs a plan to use his repentance for political advancement; and Martha wants to raise the $3,500 Jack and Jill need to help retrieve George from the aliens -- so Detective Johnson offers her a job as an actress in police-training films.
