MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN {EPISODE 267} {A SASQUATCH IN FERNWOOD} (TV)

Summary

The first of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, Chief Texas tells Lila, Merle, and Wanda that Howie has been strangled. Loretta, Vernon, and Charlie discuss the mysterious creature that has been sighted in Fernwood, which Vernon calls the "Crazed Mad Black Bomber." Mary shows up at the door with Dr. J. Stanley Mattick, an expert on unusual animals. Charlie produces a cast of the mysterious creature's footprint, and Dr. Mattick identifies it as a Sasquatch, warning the Fernwoodians not to frighten it away. A loud noise disrupts them -- Mac, whose foot has been caught in Charlie's Bigfoot trap. Later at the Hartman home, Merle tells Mary he wishes he were Tom; after he leaves, Heather tells her mother she thinks Merle is a creep. The members of the GGG discuss stringing up the "crazed black killer." The meeting disperses, and Vernon orders a resentful Texas to throw away the box of Howie's research, which happens to be dynamite. Dewey the janitor comes in to empty the trash and examines its contents. Commercials deleted.
