Summary
One in this series about two distinct groups of high schoolers in 1980 Michigan -- the Freaks, hoodish outcasts-by-choice who love heavy metal, cars, and defying authority; and the Geeks, physically and socially underdeveloped kids who revel in science fiction and impersonations of their comedy idols. In this episode, Ken discovers that Nick is planning to enter a disco contest on Friday night and tries desperately to dissuade him. Daniel is caught trying to trip the fire alarm after his plan to cheat on the big math test is foiled, and Mr. Rosso banishes him to the audio-visual squad with the Geeks. Sam, Bill, and Neal are concerned that their one sanctuary from ridicule has been invaded by a Freak, but they are secretly delighted when Daniel accepts Harris's invitation to join them in a game of Dungeons and Dragons. Lindsay is upset about being chosen to participate in an academic summit at the University of Michigan, so Mr. Rosso lends her a Grateful Dead album, "American Beauty," to help her relax, and she makes friends with two deadheads from school. Meanwhile, Kim laments her inability to get out of town for the summer. Commercials deleted. This program is closed-captioned.
